We are in the process of adopting our second child! Ayden is doing so amazingly well and we would like to grow our family and give Ayden a brother or sister.
We’ve been working on our home study. I forgot how much paperwork it is. We also had to do additional training since it’s been a while. Luckily we don’t have to do the psychological evaluation again. That was a very interesting test and we got a lot of insight into our personalities; but it was LONG and kind of repetitive.
We are using the same home study agency and also the same placement agency. But things in Korea are a little different right now, obviously because of the pandemic. I thought before everything took a long time, but now, it’s extra. Whereas we were matched with Ayden 3 months after submitting our home study, these days the referral can take 6-8 months. Before, we traveled after a year. Now it will take 18-24 months. I’m really hopeful that we won’t be required to quarantine at that point.
We’re settled in our home and are looking forward to becoming a family of 4 (5 if you count the fur baby). It will be nice for Ayden to have a playmate. And our second child most likely would develop quickly since there will be another child at home.
I remember growing up with a sibling so close in age made life more fun. We were always together and I never felt lonely. Ayden will have that and in addition, he can have someone to share the adoptee experience with.
I hope everything goes well. I pray for another healthy and happy child. I also can’t wait to see Seoul again.
